Let's talk about the honeymoon!

I am so excited to finally, FINALLY have booked our honeymoon hotels.  So now we are all set with our flights and our hotels in Paris and Rome...and we're down to planning the fun stuff! What do we want to do and see? And should we try and get advance tickets for anything?

Eiffel Tower

I think a bonus for us of traveling to Europe in May, is that the weather should be nice but the crowds of tourists have yet to hopefully things won't be as packed as they are in June or July.  And I have to admit that planning the honeymoon has become a bit more fun than planning the wedding lately! How could it not, though, when you're planning a ten-day trip to Europe?

With five days in both Paris and Rome, I think that each day we’ll focus on a point of interest – as opposed to trying to squeeze in as many museums and things as possible, we’re going to have a more laid-back approach.  I think we’ll need a little bit of a break after the craziness of the wedding, too!

So our Paris itinerary will include the following:
  • The Eiffel Tower
  • The Louvre
  • Sacre Couer/Montmarte area
  • Notre Dame
  • And a visit to Laduree - I can't wait to sample some macarons!

We’ll follow that approach in Rome as well.  Our hotel there is located centrally and overlooks the Pantheon – meaning that Vatican City, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps are all within walking distance.

Our Rome itinerary will likely include:
  • The Colosseum
  • The Roman Forum
  • The Vatican - the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's
  • Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps
  • The Pantheon
  • Borghese Museum

And of course, both cities will involve a number of leisurely meals, with lots of wine and local cuisine!! I can’t wait for the honeymoon to get here already!

Have you been to either Paris or Rome? Any tips or recommendations on what to see, and where to eat? I would love to hear from you!
